A look at the Lego Star Wars minifigures from 2019.

Star Wars in Lego: 2019

I think that I’m a fairly relaxed Lego collector in that I won’t weep if it’s impossible to secure certain minifigures. I may shed a tear but it’s more like I’m a Shakespearean “green-eyed monster” when I spy the minifigures that I covet in other collections. Oh, the Othello in me! 😆 Real talk though, I’ve always adopted the c’est la vie attitude when collecting Legos but let’s backtrack a bit for context. In recent years, I’d been working on filling three holes in my Star Wars collection. The variants were pretty hard to track down but here they are, finally:

Royal Guard 2009, Stormtrooper 2009, Baze Malbus 2016

The Royal Guard and the Stormtrooper were included in magnet sets released in 2009, and I knew that the chances to obtain them were low given their age. In essence, I’d only find them by sheer luck. I ran one of my monthly searches and came across a magnet set with the Stormtrooper bearing the super-rare black chest plate. The seller also offered a set with the Royal Guard in a curiously darker hue. GULP! 🤞🏻 I purchased the sets straight away whilst still preparing myself for disappointment as I’d been duped more times than I can count in the past. 💩💩💩 It came in the mail and, to my complete astonishment, the respective minifigures had the black chest plate and the maroon body. Damn-skippy! 🥳

I got lucky but there’s more.

The Baze Malbus variant from 2016 proved to be even more difficult to find. I searched everywhere with zero success. 😝 I even tried reaching out to all of the European sellers on Bricklink to check if their offerings featured the misprinted head since it circulated mainly in sets distributed in Europe. Most of the sellers either answered no or resolutely ignored my inquiry. 😑 In the end, I found Baze through a random Google image search. As a helpful tidbit, don’t forget to check Google’s other search options such as shopping and images because you never know. 😙 Once I spotted Baze and his strange mouth, I quickly checked the seller’s feedback history, followed the links to buy and voilà! 🥳

I got super-duper lucky.

I’m still in shock as I share this. I never thought I’d fill these holes in my collection. It took five years but I found the minifigures in the span of two weeks. By absolutely no stretch of the imagination am I attempting to boast, brag or grandstand. I just wanted to share the story of how I go about finding Lego stuff. I search everywhere and anywhere and research until I’ve turned over every rock. With Lego, though, it may all come down to luck or perhaps money for collectors with deep pockets. Luck is free and it’s my kind of price tag. 🤗 Alas, my collection will always have holes as it’ll forever be missing George Lucas, R2-KT and the minifigures made of precious metals. Completion will always be a dream unrealized but “Goonies never say die,” right? ☠️ Anyhoo, here are the Star Wars minifigures for 2019.
