Lego Marvel Superheroes: 2013

Marvel Superheroes in Lego: 2013

Collecting Lego minifigures can be a calming distraction from the chaos of life but it can also be vexing when chasing exclusives on a self-imposed budget. That’s the nature of hobbies though. It always starts off affordable but quickly becomes costly as coveted items become harder to obtain. Oh how I wish I could add the 14-karat gold, sterling silver and bronze C-3PO and Boba Fett minifigures to my collection! It’d be a dream realized but I’d likely have to live on instant noodles the rest of my life. 🤗

I guess I’ll stick to collecting everything that I can get my paws on like the two Spider-Man and three Iron Man 3 sets released by Lego in 2013. It was a pretty awesome year for the Marvel Superheroes theme as we were awarded with the Iron Patriot, War Machine and three variants of Iron Man. The brick company also released an exclusive Spider-Man and Spider-Woman at San Diego Comic Con that year. The exclusive Spidey assuaged my slight disappointment in the reappearance of the 2012 variant of the web-slinging super hero in the Spider-Man sets, but I can’t sigh too much because Lego released 19 brand new minifigures across the Marvel theme. They were all well-designed and a few villains even featured glow-in-the-dark heads. It’s so extra but, hey, what can I say? I’m easy to please.
