X-Men: Days of Future Past was an epic film that merged the ensemble cast of X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class through Wolverine’s time travel to 1973 to stop Bolivar Trask’s assassination and to ultimately erase his creation of the Sentinels, deadly robots that identify and eradicate mutants and their allies. Despite the film’s success and the popularity of X-Men, Lego only released one set associated with X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Additionally, Professor X and Magneto are two of the most powerful and renowned X-Men characters in the Marvel universe so it’s strange that Lego released three variants of Magneto but has yet to release a Professor X minifigure. I’m dying to add Charles Xavier to my collection so I’m keeping my fingers tightly crossed. For the feature photo of this post, we created our own version of Professor X as he played a pivotal role in the film in persuading and convincing Mystique not to murder Trask.
Aside from the single X-Men set, the 2014 Marvel theme consisted of three Guardians of the Galaxy, three Spider-Man and two Avengers sets. An astonishing number of Marvel minifigures were available to brick fans through various Lego sets, offers and exclusives for a total of 33 superheroes and villains. They’re all awesome but my favorites include MODOK with his big head, Groot as a little sprout and Storm with her fierce cape. Which are your favorites?
